Sarah & Andrej’s Wedding Extravaganza : Part Three – India Meets Los Angeles

Alright everyone, the time has come. The third and final installment of Sarah and Andrej’s wedding adventure. The grand finale. We thrilled you with Part I and Part II, our amazing trip through Serbia. And now Part III is a nod to the bride’s Indian heritage, with all of the beautiful, colorful details that this culture brings. We started on Friday night on a fabulous harbor cruise out of Marina del Rey to welcome the guests to California, similar to how they kicked off their Serbian weekend with a boat ride down the river. The ship was decked out in bright colored glass lanterns and soft kilim cushions, where a handful of artists spent the evening painting gorgeous henna designs on the hands of the guests. The sunset on the water reflected the gorgeous pink and gold that was just a taste of what was to come the next day.

The following afternoon we arrived at the bride’s parents’ house and it was like walking into a dream. We were immediately transported to an Indian oasis as we stepped through the threshold dripping with vibrant flowers, into the foyer which had turned into the Favor Bazaar, and out into the expansive backyard which had every inch covered in patterned rugs, bright blooms, and regal white canopies. We met the bride up the street at her brother’s house as she put the finishing touches on her ensemble; she chose to wear a stunning gilded cream sari accented with blue peacocks, which really stood out against her deep amber henna and bright red bangles. The groom was in his traditional Indian garb as well, complete with a handsome turban and a manly sword. Back at the Chadha house, the guests lined the streets with bells and tambourines as Sarah and Andrej arrived riding on the back of an elephant! Not just any elephant either…this is the same beautiful creature that played Rosie in the film Water for Elephants! It was so magical! The rest of the night was a blur of fire dancers, sitar players, men on stilts, heartwarming toasts, a Jai Ho flash mob, delicious food, gorgeous women dressed in saris in every color of the rainbow, and endless gasps of awe. It was the perfect ending to Sarah and Andrej’s weeklong celebration of love. It was so hard to say goodbye to the couple and the countless guests that we had befriended on this journey, but we are all forever connected by this unbelievably surreal experience and we will absolutely be talking about this amazing wedding for the rest of our lives.
